Hokkaido

Snow, ice and colors

In Sapporo and neighboring Otaru, ice and snow take center stage in February. Visitors can admire ephemeral creations of all sizes, take part in events, discover artists or schools, such as the presentation of young sumo wrestlers.

The Otaru canal is a particularly photogenic tourist attraction, with its brick warehouses, quite unique in Japan. The view of Otaru Bay from the Tenguyama is a sight to behold, the blue of the sea flirting with the whiteness of the snow that covers the city. The cold, the lights, the colors and the winter whiteness invite you to marvel and rekindle a certain magic.
